Tips from Angie

Participate with your customers

If your customers feel like you value their input and opinions, they won't hesitate to contact you in the future—or tell their friends or Angie's List about what a great experience they had working with you.

Tips to increase participation:

  1. Testify. If your customers are happy, let them tell everyone. Have a camera ready to go when you finish a job. Ask for permission to snap a few photos of your job-well-done and ask for a statement from them. Use these on your website, in e-mails or in a portfolio. Add photos to your Angie's List profile, too—sign in to your CompanyConnect account to contact your ad rep.

  2. Teach. Take time to explain or demonstrate, in basic terms, what the problem is and what needs to be done to correct it. Let them get to know you better—don't just show up, work silently and hand them a bill. By talking a little, you'll make them feel like they're with you as a team, not simply reliant on you.

  3. Create. Look for opportunities to tell your customers what you're up to. Find a charitable organization to donate your time and talent to, and let your customers know. Ask them for suggestions for your next charitable project, or keep them up-to-date on your company's news through an e-mail newsletter.
